The SLA Student Chapter encourages professional contacts within the field of librarianship with an emphasis on "non-traditional" settings, and actively promotes involvement in professional activities beyond the classroom.

UCLA Information Studies Department 50th Anniversary Celebration

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Master's program and the 30th anniversary of the Doctoral program, the Department of Information Studies at UCLA celebrated with a special kick-off event on Saturday, January 31, 2009. The day included a luncheon featuring keynote speaker Robert M. Hayes, a variety of panel sessions held during the afternoon and a special after-hours reception at UCLA’s Powell Library Rotunda.
