Fall 2007 Quarter meetings

First General meeting: October 10th, Rm. 245, 5-6pm. Attendance was good. We discussed:
- plans for the upcoming year: Matt Wittmer suggested a tour of NBC Universal's Corporate Archive, maximum of 10,
- open officer positions (Vice President, Events Coordinator, Web Assistant, Membership Coordinator),
- submissions for "Chapters and Loose Papers" (the SAA Student Chapter newsletter)
- food and refreshments were served!
- Continuing officers Walter Butler (President), Laura Gonzales (Secretary) and Robin Fitzpatrick (Treasurer) led the meeting. Professor Anne Gilliland (Faculty Advisor) also attended and was available for questions from first-year students.

Winter 2008 Quarter meetings:
Board meeting: January 15, 2008 at 12:30:
- In attendance: Walter Butler (President), Robin Fitzpatrick (Treasurer), Kaitlin Waldron (Co-Vice President), Sarah Buchanan (Co-Vice President), Krystal Appiah (Web Assistant), Jeffrey Kozak (Co-Membership Coordinator). Shannon O'Neill (Co-Events Coordinator) and Celina Lee (Co-Membership Coordinator) plan to meet with Walter tomorrow.
- new project we're going to be heading with the University Archives and the Center for Student Programming plus dividing up preliminary tasks. Kenn Heller is our CSP contact.

BAP Website group meeting: January 30, 2008 at 12:30:
- In attendance: Krystal, Sarah, Shannon, Celina
- Ideas discussed: blue & gold color scheme, website architecture to include list pf participants?. Joe & Josie Bruin on BAP logo (Celina has an art background...) Text should emphasize we're student-driven & friendly. Contact info & background of SAA@UCLA. Still TBA is the web domain & email address -Krystal to announce.

BAP and CSP meeting: March 17, 2008, 2-3PM in Kerckhoff:
- In attendance: Walter Butler, Sarah Buchanan, Shannon O'Neill (all BAP), Monique Sugimoto (University Archives), Kenn Heller (CSP Associate Director)
- Formally introduce the Bruin Archives Project to the Center for Student Programming so that they may inform and advise the student groups they are responsible for about the process.

Spring 2008 Quarter meetings:
Board meeting: May 6, 2008 at 12:30 in IS Commons. Agenda.
- In attendance: Sarah Buchanan (Co-Vice President), Laura Gonzales (Secretary), Robin Fitzpatrick (Treasurer), Katie Richardson (Co-Events Coordinator), Jeffrey Kozak (Co-Membership Coordinator).
- elections call: Katie will send an email through uclasaa to current SAA@UCLA members first
- Valentine's Bake Sale made $88!
- BAP update: Zoomerang survey was sent out to 760 undergraduate groups at UCLA. Monique got 27 responses so far. SAA officers will pick groups to contact before June. Our website and email have been assigned, thanks Krystal!
- Fall events: we discussed placing BAP as a service-learning site for archival-track students in Professor Chu's core Ethics class next year. Officers will contact any speakers in mind.
- "Chapters and Loose Papers" has availability for editorial board positions and article submissions. Spring issue is now published at http://chaptersandloosepapers.wetpaint.com
- SAA Annual Conference this August in San Francisco: some officers may attend.
- Sarah led the meeting in Walter's absence.

BAP training & group assignments at University Archives (2nd Floor of YRL): May 19, 2008 at 4PM:
- In attendance: Walter Butler, Krystal Appiah, Jeffrey Kozak, Sarah Buchanan (SAA officers), Monique Sugimoto, Charlotte Brown (University Archives).
- Monique has sent out a survey reminder notice to the student groups via Zoomerang (excepting the now-37 of 700 who have submitted complete responses, including Samahang which will meet at UA on Sept. 24). We would like the groups to give BAP an inventory for us to create Finding Aids, and we discussed SCREAD. UA may have space for a BAP section. We discussed a processing chart, pre-transfer of materials form, and the Zoomerang responses so far.
- SAA officers chose responding groups to contact: Jeff (The Dukeminier Awards: Best Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Law Review Articles, & Pacific Basin Law Journal), Sarah (CPR and First Aid Committee, & March of Dimes), Krystal (Comitatus: A Journal of Medieval and Renaissance Studies, & Art History Graduate Student Association), and Walter (Student Activist Project -SAP, International Social Justice Network -ISJN).

Spring elections: May 28, 2008: SAA would like to welcome 2008-2009 officers:
Co-Presidents: Sarah Buchanan and Katie Richardson
Treasurer: Jeffrey Kozak
Secretary: Mariana Cochran

June 12, 2008 meeting at noon:
- Walter brought extra SAA T-shirts for Sarah to store and later sell. Walter also went over President duties: 1) send end-of-year report to Brian Doyle at SAA by May 31 each year, to include list of officers & description of activities -already sent this year. 2) promote "Chapters and Loose Papers" involvement: Walter wrote a column as an editor; the new editors are students from San Jose State and BU. 3) monitor SAA email account and website. 4) maintain BAP: contact groups, encourage first-years to adopt a group & gain processing experience, & add wiki pages (http://bruinarchives.wetpaint.com) with Katie. 5) continue field trips & site visits (off-campus visits require transportation lists, permissions & possible caps on attendance). Also, allow the Secretary to take photographs of (i.e. document) our events! 6) Treasurer duties: SAA has $800 in University Credit Union account, officers may need to sign papers.

- Congrats on Walter's graduation! He received the T. R. Schellenberg 2nd-Year Superlative for Standout Archive Student!
