Faculty Librarian 3 Vacancies

Tallahassee Community College, a dynamic and growing comprehensive community college located in Tallahassee, Florida, invites applications for 3 public services librarians with a passion for user-centered and innovative library services who would embrace an opportunity to build a transformation information literacy program with a team of talented and committed library faculty. The positions are full-time, tenure-track 12-month faculty positions reporting to the Director of Library Services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
American Library Association accredited masterís degree in Library and Information Science; demonstrated web development skills. Experience or coursework in educational pedagogy, library instruction or information literacy is preferred. Experience with integrated library systems, especially Ex Libris Aleph strongly preferred.

PREFERRED:
Experience in an academic library, especially in a community college setting; experience or recent coursework in reference and collection development; experience in provision of library services to distance students within course management systems; experience in teaching library research classes; exemplary collaborative work with discipline faculty, related student support units and community groups; strong organizational and time management skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of issues and trends in academic libraries; knowledge of information literacy principles, best practices, and trends in integration and assessment of IL across the curriculum; excellent oral and written skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with culturally diverse library users and adult learners; ability to work independently and as part of a team; potential for growth as an instructor and substantive service contributions; commitment to continuous learning and professional development; ability to effectively operate in a culture of continuous technological change.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Instructional Services: Answer general information, directional, technical and reference questions at service points; assist patrons in finding, evaluating, organizing and documenting information. Develop collegial relationships and collaborate with discipline faculty and administrators in one or more liaison areas to promote library services and resources, assess needs, and facilitate the integration of information literacy competencies across the curriculum. Serve on library and campus committees, projects, and other collaborative initiatives as appropriate. Participate in the Libraryís Instruction Program including teaching library research credit courses in face-to-face and online formats. Provide virtual reference services via email and Blackboard course management system and the statewide chat reference service, Ask a Librarian. Administrative Services: Participate in collection management and development, including serial review and database assessment, selection of new acquisitions, evaluation of existing collections and collection development policies.

Faculty responsibilities include instruction, professional growth, curriculum development, academic advising, support of college policies and procedures, and participation in department and college activities and committees.
