|Reporting to an Associate Archivist, the Project Archivist will develop and implement processing plans including appraisal, preservation, and application of minimal processing for some series and create finding aids for collections of organization records and personal papers in the Philadelphia Jewish Archives. This two-year, full-time position will assist in gaining control of over 2100 cubic feet of unprocessed holdings in the collection, which documents the history of Jewish organizations and the community in the greater Philadelphia region. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Masterís degree with an archives management emphasis or concentration and at least one year of professional experience processing complex, multi-series collections. Experience working with archival materials in a research setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated understanding of current archival theory and practice.
*Knowledge of archival description standards and practices, including DACS, MARC, LCSH, Dublin Core.
*Experience applying minimal processing techniques to collection processing.
*Demonstrated project management skills.
*Ability to supervise students.
*Excellent written and oral communication skills.
*Excellent customer services and interpersonal skill, along with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse population of faculty, students and staff.
*Reading knowledge of Hebrew, Yiddish, or German
*Certification by Academy of Certified Archivists
