|Lafayette College Libraries, winner of the 2014 American Library Association Excellence in Academic Libraries Award, is nationally recognized for its leadership modeling innovative approaches to digital scholarship in a liberal arts college setting. The Department of Digital Scholarship Services (DSS) at Lafayette College Libraries seeks a curious, ambitious Digital Repository Librarian eager to grow professionally in the dynamic field of open-source digital repository implementation. As a Samvera partner institution, Lafayette College Libraries is committed to the values of open-source software development for academic libraries and digital scholarship. We are currently in the process of migrating our digital assets from an Islandora framework to a Samvera framework. The faculty-status position of Digital Repository Librarian comes with excellent professional development support.
-Collaborate with the Digital Library Developer to implement a Samvera digital repository framework, explore the Hyku out-of-the-box digital repository solution, and migrate data to the new framework.
-Monitor, maintain, and expand the digital repository in response to campus needs; oversee the ingest of digital assets.
-Collaborate with colleagues in Digital Scholarship Services and College Archives & Special Collections to develop and apply metadata schema for digital curation and preservation tasks; help determine policies relevant to the repository.
-Undertake systems administration responsibilities; liaise with the Digital Infrastructure unit of Information Technology Services regarding server and cloud storage strategies.
This is a full-time, 12-month position. Lafayette College offers a competitive salary and generous benefits package as compensation.
Lafayette College is located in Easton, PA, 70 miles west of New York City, 60 miles north of Philadelphia, and 35 miles south of the scenic Pocono Mountains. An ALA-accredited masterís degree in library or information science, or an advanced degree in a related field
-Experience and/or a willingness to learn in the following areas:
-digital repository administration
-digital library metadata standards
-copyright and intellectual property considerations for digital assets
-open-source community software development projects
-Exposure to and an interest to learn more about a programming language like Ruby, Java, Python, or PHP
-Exposure to and an interest to learn more about Linked Open Data.
