Associate Librarian for Digital Strategies
Dartmouth College Library seeks an innovative, creative, and forward-thinking leader for the new role of Associate Librarian for Digital Strategies ("Associate Librarian"). The Associate Librarian will have the opportunity to lead the development and implementation of an overarching digital strategy for the Library in close collaboration with and ever-mindful of the students and faculty whom the Library serves. The Associate Librarian will seek to have impact beyond the Library and even beyond the campus by helping to enrich and deepen connections between researchers and innovators, and by embracing the role of the Library in making available and preserving digital knowledge for all. S/he will identify and prioritize the tools, partnerships, and approaches that will most powerfully advance the teaching, learning, and research mission of Dartmouth in the largest sense. S/he will also seek to ensure that these resources are readily accessible to and useable by those who wish to use them. Finally, the Associate Librarian will also play a critical external role by establishing effective networks regionally, nationally, and globally to explore new partnerships, resources, and initiatives that support the Library's strategic mission.

In addition to being the expert on digital strategy, the Associate Librarian will also serve as a critical member of the Dean of Libraries' collaborative senior leadership team. The new Dean joined Dartmouth in December 2016, and is currently building a team of strategic, innovative, and action-oriented library leaders. The Associate Librarian will have the opportunity to participate in wide-ranging strategic planning, policy development, and resource allocation decisions and to contribute to the overall advancement of library programs and services in keeping with the mission and vision of Dartmouth College.

Founded in 1769, Dartmouth is a member of the Ivy League and consistently ranks among the world's greatest academic institutions. The Dartmouth Library is dedicated to supporting teaching, learning, and research and works in partnership with the students and faculty of the School of Arts & Sciences, the Thayer School of Engineering, the Tuck School of Business, the Geisel School of Medicine, and the School of Graduate and Advanced Studies. Dartmouth Library is supported by a highly committed professional and support staff of about 170. The Dartmouth College Library is a member of the Ivy Plus Libraries, the Association of Research Libraries, CRL, NERL, HathiTrust, DPN, and the Library Publishing Coalition.

The Associate Librarian currently oversees experienced and talented personnel totaling approximately 15 FTE's across two key areas within the Library: the Digital Libraries Technologies Group (DLTG) and the Jones Media Center.
