GROUP LEADER - Library, Job code: 32-00518*

Job Summary:

Plan, organize and lead day-to-day operations of the Library; perform annual staff evaluations, salary administration, counseling, discipline, and policy implementation; promote library resources and services to Institute management and staff to include advocating for the Library; manage and meet the overall cost objectives of the Library; foster inter-agency interaction with other libraries including resource sharing; represent the Library at professional conferences and meetings; maintain and disseminate the DD2345, Military Critical Technical Data Agreement, with the DLIS (Defense Logistics Information Service - as the document custodian); chair Library Committee, prepare agenda for annual meeting, schedule and conduct meeting; administer the Institute’s Annual Business License with the Copyright Clearance Center and provide copyright assistance to SwRI staff in conjunction with the Legal Department; gather metrics, provide analysis, and disseminate reports regarding resource, systems and service usage; publish an annual report and quarterly newsletters; develop annual and long-term goals that include future program development and associated resource and personnel needs.

Education/Experience:

Requires a MS degree in Library Science, Information Science, Library and Information Science, or related degree with an ALA-accredited Library Science program with a 3.0 GPA. Must have 5 years of post-graduate experience in an academic or research library and 2 years of supervisory experience. Must be able to develop and document policy and workflow processes; must have knowledge of copyright issues related to a special library; must have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; must exercise discretion and independent judgment, diligence, and attention to detail; must be able to engage independently in continuing professional development; must be able to work with a diverse population of researches and staff; must be able to mentor and provide development opportunities for library staff; must have experience developing and executing bibliographic instruction programs; must have experience implementing, customizing, managing, and assessing new technologies and programs; must have experience with Voyager ILS, ILLiad, EBSCO's EDS, Serials Solutions ERM, or equivalent products.

Special Considerations:

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to work with ITAR export controlled materials.
