Head, Collection Development and Management Program

The Head of Collection Development and Management is responsible for leading and managing a program to provide a 21st Century research library collection advancing transformative teaching, learning, and research at the University. Exercising collaborative leadership and leveraging a growing portfolio of multi-institutional partnerships and initiatives, the Head is responsible for developing strategy, advising library leaders, making decisions, and creating processes, programs, and projects for the Ohio State University’s diverse and extensive print and licensed electronic collections. This is a tenure track faculty position.

Qualifications (Required)

ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS degree.
Minimum of two years professional experience in building and managing library collections in print and digital formats, including management of funds.
Knowledge and understanding of 21st century collections issues, emerging practices, standards, and trends relating to collection development and management in an academic or research library environment.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategy in developing or managing library collections including ability to align strategy with local priorities and evolving multi-institutional cooperative environments.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, plan, coordinate, and implement effective projects.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both orally and in writing.
Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to meet the requirements of promotion and tenure; commitment to professional development and service.

Qualifications (Desired)

Evidence of potential to lead change.
Demonstrated competency in analysis, budgeting and planning, assessment and evaluation of library collections.
Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to multi-institutional collaborations, especially involving library collections.
Advanced skills in statistical analysis and research design.
Familiarity with e-resource licensing and copyright issues.
Supervisory experience.

Rank/Salary

This is a full-time, permanent, 12-month tenure-track faculty appointment. Salary and faculty rank are dependent on qualifications and experience.
