Medical Librarian MemorialCare - Long Beach, CA Master's Degree The Senior Medical Librarian-Education, Research, & Outreach is a critical Library team member and supports the department’s mission to assist Long Beach Memorial and Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach physicians, nurses, and staff with obtaining current, relevant, and evidence-based information for patient care, education, and research. This position is responsible for daily operations and supervision of the new Health Sciences Library. This position is responsible for physician, nurse, and staff online library resources and access technology education, providing one-on-one customized research assistance, and maintaining the library’s intranet site. This position supervises library staff and library interns, assists with library technology maintenance, and in the absence of the Library Director, oversees department operations and library staff supervision. Minimum Requirements/Work Experience: 5 years professional work experience in a hospital or health sciences academic setting. Experience teaching adults utilizing various instructional technologies. Experience searching PubMed/OVID Medline, EBSCO CINAHL, EBM/EBP, and other medical information resources. Experience supervising and training staff. Excellent teaching and presentation skills. Mastery of Microsoft Office Products. Experience with developing and maintaining websites. Experience with library marketing. Education/Licensure/Certification: A Masters in Library and Information Science (MLS/MLIS) from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution Preferred: Coursework in life sciences, medical sciences, or health sciences librarianship. Additional graduate level degree (M.A., M.S., M.B.A. or Ph.D.). Medical Library Association (MLA) Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP).
