| MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIP Parks, Recreation & Community Services: Library Division The City of Santa Ana is currently accepting applications for the Management Internship program. The internship is funded for 12 months and requires 20 hours of work per week. The program seeks dedicated Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) students, who, through their academic achievement and employment history, have demonstrated high potential for a management career in a public library. The two (2) current vacancies in the Library Services Department offers graduate students the opportunity to contribute to the City’s goal of being a catalyst for the positive development of young people. The intern will be involved in studying and documenting the effectiveness of the department’s programs and services, as well as conducting research on the best practices to increase the effectiveness of such programs. TYPICAL ASSIGNMENTS: -Develop, implement, and document a management internship project on a selected topic -Conduct surveys, research, data input, and data analysis -Assist in the evaluation of the benefits of library programs -Prepare reports and proposals on improving, expanding, and/or modifying existing library programs to increase their effectiveness -Assist with the preparation of concept papers to be used in future grant seeking efforts -Mentor library clerks and library pages REQUIRED ACTIVITIES: -Must attend 3 OC-REFORMA meetings -Must attend all Library Discovery field trips -Must attend all Library Career Exploration field trips -Must attend the Graphic Design Workshop -Must blog weekly about your experiences, insights and suggestions on “Seeds to Trees; Saplings to Young Trees” blog group MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1) Must be currently enrolled in a MLIS Program. Bachelor's degree can be in any field - MAKE SURE TO ATTACH PROOF OF SCHOOL ENROLLMENT (E.G. UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS, PROOF OF SCHOOL ENROLLMENT, ETC) 2) Must be bilingual in English and Spanish OR Vietnamese 3) Must have experience working in a library 4) Experience with computers in a Windows environment or any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the desirable knowledge and abilities in computer technology is desirable Must be willing and able to work afternoons, evenings and Saturdays.
