Educational Technology Services (ETS) is seeking an experienced, energetic Instructional Designer to join our Training & Support team. Our team is dedicated to supporting faculty, staff and students on the use of educational technologies to enrich teaching and learning. This encompasses a broad range of technologies, including bSpace (the campus learning management system), podcasting, and social media and online collaboration tools.
The Instructional Designer (ID) will work closely with instructors, students and staff to understand and resolve a wide range of teaching and learning issues. He/she will develop new training programs, select methods and techniques for delivering training and development programs, and provide hands-on support to instructors and staff in the use of ETS online systems and tools. The principal focus for this position will be supporting different forms of assessment and the campus adoption of an online evaluation system. This includes participating in requirements gathering, tool and system pilots, quality assurance testing, and ensuring that complex evaluation activities are supported by ETS, as well as developing support and communication plans. As time allows, the ID will also work on other ETS initiatives and projects, depending on both the needs of the campus and the interests and skills of the ID
Minimum 2-3 years experience developing teaching materials and designing learning activities
Minimum 2-3 years experience teaching, preferably at a college or university
Solid understanding of instructional design theories, methodologies and best practices, including interactive teaching methods
Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated skill in consulting and needs assessment/requirements gathering
Ability to develop clientele/partners, promoting and demonstrating the value of our services to campus, faculty and staff
Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication, and customer-service skills
Excellent presentation skills
Enthusiasm for researching and experimenting with emerging classroom technologies
Thorough knowledge of developing and delivering training programs
Ability to manage small projects from start to finish
Thorough knowledge and skills with relevant software systems (e.g. LMSes) and familiarity with various web design and web 2.0 tools.
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
Master's or higher degree in Instructional Design (preferred).
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
