Posted 5/1/2012: Reference & Instructional Services Librarian, Creighton University, Reinert-Alumni Library, Omaha, Nebraska Position Summary Creighton University seeks an energetic, collaborative, and creative Reference Librarian to coordinate instructional services. This position provides general reference service, with subject specialization in designated social science areas. Responsibilities include student consultations, faculty liaison, classroom teaching, online course instruction, and some collection development. This position will also lead the Library in developing and cultivating the information literacy program for the College of Arts & Sciences and College of Business. The ideal candidate will effectively team with library colleagues, teaching faculty, and instructional designers in the planning, delivery, and assessment of critical thinking instruction in the University’s emerging core curriculum. This position reports to the Head of Reference and includes some nights and weekends. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program Significant undergraduate coursework in the social sciences 2-3 years experience providing reference and instructional services in an academic library Knowledge of information literacy and assessment standards, trends, and best practices Demonstrated ability to create tutorials, learning objects, surveys, and other curricular resources using appropriate instructional technologies Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Effective presentation skills Strong public service orientation Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, communication studies, history, sociology, or political science Teaching experience and demonstrated proficiency with learning outcomes assessment Proficiency with screencasting software such as Captivate or Camtasia Experience with LibGuides and HTML code Familiarity with learning management systems such as Canvas or Angel Creighton University is a Catholic and Jesuit comprehensive institution committed to excellence in a range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs, located in the thriving heartland community of Omaha, Nebraska.
