The Special Collections Research Center of the Temple University Libraries seeks a Coordinator of Technical Services to ensure that collections in the newly merged SCRC are available for use by supervising accessioning, processing, access tool creation, preservation, and collection management for the holdings, which include rare and other special book, periodical, and ephemera collections, and over 40,000 feet of archival and manuscript holdings with extensive photographic, film, video, digitized, and born-digital content.

Required education, experience, and skills:

Master’s degree in Library Science (ALA-accredited) with archives management emphasis.
At least three years of experience working with special collections or archives in a research setting.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated understanding of current archival theory and practice.
Ability to work in and contribute to a team environment.
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, along with the ability to effectively interact with diverse groups of individuals.
Strong project management and supervisory skills.
Knowledge of archival organization and descriptive standards (DACS, Dublin Core, EAD, LCSH, AAT) and collection management and digital content management systems (III, DB/TextWorks, CONTENTdm, Drupal).
Ability to perform tasks associated with retrieval of archival materials and to move/lift up to 50 lbs.
Demonstrated engagement in external professional activity.

Preferred:

Second subject Master’s.
Certified Archivist.

Competitive salary and benefits package, including relocation allowance. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
