| Job Title : Medical Librarian I Job Code : 112 Location : Torrance CA US 90502 Job Type : Full Time Education : Master's Degree Job Requirements : Monday-Friday. The Medical Librarian I requires Master's degree with major in Library Science. Experience with a Medical clientele preferred. Must have library experience including computerized searching of the medical literature and Internet is preferred. Excellent oral and written English communication skills required. Job Description : * Provide reference help to medical, nursing, allied health and administrative staff in a courteous and effective manner * Develop content for the Parlow Library web site and the online public access catalog * Provide book, journal, index, data base, or Internet information appropriate to the inquiry in a timely manner * Search for relevant medical information on the NLM Medline or Orion database system on the personal computer or through the network * Formulate and execute database searches in an effective manner to locate citations which answer the patron’s inquiry * Assist medical,nursing, administrative staff with hardware problems at UCLA to resolve compatibility and search problems * Process Docline and other interlibrary loan requests in a timely manner * Train librarian staff and patrons on the basics of the Internet * Search the Internet for relevant medical or library topics; * Develop teaching tools relevant locations and teach search strategy and mechanics The hiring department will contact qualified applicants for interview.
