West Coast University, a private university with the singular focus of educating health care professionals, is currently seeking a University Librarian. This is an outstanding opportunity for a professional to join a growing university as we expand our academic programs in health care and related fields.


Reporting to the Provost, the University Librarian is responsible for ensuring the development of the collection of learning resources including books, periodicals, journals and online resources in such a way as to gain efficiencies and consistency across the University and provide resources and services that enhance student learning. The University Librarian ensures clear linkages to academic programs and participates on the Universityís Academic Council. As a senior member of the academic administration, provides strategic direction for learning resource development both for the present and into the future. The University Librarian ensures that Campus Librarians participate in and contribute to programmatic curriculum committees. They will also seek new and innovate methods to support students in their learning activities.



Masterís degree in Library Science required from a accredited institution or related field required.

Library technician certificate preferred.

Three to five years of relevant experience in a higher education library/learning resource environment reflective of the provision of strategic leadership in that environment.

Experience with resource acquisition and management.

Evidence of outstanding customer service and responsiveness

Understanding of higher education issues and how they impact the library and learning resources.

Conversant with library databases and online resources.

Demonstrated ability in the creation of policies, protocols and procedures within a library environment that support best practices.

Evidence of budget and resource management competence.

Knowledge of state, federal and local laws/regulations relating to library programs, governmental compliance and other regulatory standards and other accreditation standards.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products, especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and other MS office products as needed.
