The Thomas Cooper Library at the University of South Carolina seeks a creative, enthusiastic, and collaborative person for the position of Instructional Design Librarian. Reporting to the Head of the Research and Instruction Department, the Instructional Design Librarian (IDL) develops digital learning objects/web-based instructional tools for library instructional programs, which includes holding primary responsibility for shared LIBR101 Online content. The IDL integrates instructional materials into the course management system, develops standards and best practices for DLO creation, leads instructional technology training and development for Research & Instruction, and assists with developing and conducting needs assessment and usability studies of instructional tools. This position also provides general instruction and research assistance and may serve as a liaison to department(s) and subjects to be determined. As a tenure-track faculty member, the in Instructional Design Librarian is expected to fulfill requirements in librarianship, service and scholarly activity as described in University Libraries tenure criteria.

Required Qualifications

A Masterís Degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution in the US or Canada.

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in developing and/or maintaining online instructional content.

Minimum of two (2) years library experience.

Knowledge of learning theory and pedagogy as it relates to online learning.

Desired Qualifications

Demonstrated experience developing information literacy or other library instruction content.

Three (3) or more years of experience providing reference, research, or instruction service in an academic library.

Ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere.

Knowledge of developments in higher education, scholarly processes and issues facing academic research libraries.
