The Archives and Heritage Brand Manager is a part of the Ford Communications team. The manager will be broadly responsible for both leading a purchased service archival preservation team and working with internal and external resources to proactively develop and place assets to tell our story. The manager will interface with the full global Communications team – product, internal communications, corporate and more. In addition, the role involves working with many cross-functional teams, especially marketing, and with executives.

This position will be located in Dearborn, MI.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Develop and execute a strategic vision for Ford Heritage, both in terms of technical expertise around preservation and in building programs and processes to deliver Ford’s story
Position Ford’s unique heritage in modern, engaging ways to competitively differentiate and build brand value as an innovative, visionary leader in auto and mobility
Act as a spokesperson for our history with media and other key internal/external stakeholders
Elevate the Archive to be the “beating heart” of Ford’s Heritage
Support Ford executives and employees with stories, examples and proof points
Coordinate with Communications, Marketing, Human Resources and other skill teams to develop new, culturally relevant and shareable storytelling approaches
Work with outside brand and media partners to develop unique programs to expand the reach of Ford heritage to new and global audiences
Create an ongoing heritage curriculum and experiential events to empower and educate employees and dealers as brand ambassadors
Manage content and redesign/modernize the dedicated heritage tab on Ford.com;
drive traffic to heritage home page/content
Build social media content
Oversee the digitization and programming of key assets to make it available for mass consumption in an easy, searchable way.
Oversee efforts to globalize/centralize the archival process
Oversee operations: administration, finance and management of Archives support staff
Conduct ongoing benchmarking against other companies on the latest archival and storytelling trends; apply appropriate initiatives, as necessary to deliver world-class Ford archives and storytelling
Integrate heritage-infused installations into Ford campus redevelopment planning

Job Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent degree required
5+ years of experience as a corporate archivist or in a museum role
5+ years of experience acting as spokesperson for company/organization’s history with media and other internal/external stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a communications or library/archivist field preferred.
10+ years of experience as a corporate archivist or in a museum role
Demonstrated experience successfully leading/managing teams and projects
Demonstrated knowledge of professional archival methods and practices
Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to build and cultivate relationships with colleagues with diverse backgrounds and cultures
Have a creative approach to communications and able to develop innovative approaches to deliver Ford messaging
Social Media proficiency
Demonstrated track record in identifying archival elements that drive content, experiences and communications and marketing initiatives
Strong presentation capability
Experience working with creative agencies
Basic Microsoft Office skills
Certification by the Academy of Certified Archivists and/or Digital Archives Specialist (DAS) credentials preferred
