Job Summary

The Systems Librarian for Assessment, Analytics, and Application Integration is responsible for systems administration and programming/analysis in support of the University Libraries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Compile, install, configure, maintain, and enhance software packages that contribute to the mission of the University Libraries. Utilize application programming interfaces (APIs) to integrate local customizations into commercial software services. Administer high volume relational database systems such as MySQL and Oracle. Collect and organize data that will be critical to Libraries’ strategic planning and administrative decision-making. Work with Library departments to develop, maintain, and enhance custom applications in support of Libraries services. Process Libraries’ usage data in support of analytical assessment. Participate in other Library Systems & Technology Department projects pertinent to the skills and interests of the incumbent. Participate in professional associations, workshops, conferences, and meetings, and contribute to the advancement of the profession and the status of the University Libraries. This may require overnight travel. Maintain an awareness of current trends and developments in library automation and information technologies. Encourage the professional growth and development of staff involved in the use of information technologies. Serve on Libraries and/or university committees/teams/groups as appointed or elected. Participate in departmental activities pertaining to organization, management, task assignment, and strategic planning. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited program or a related graduate degree. Demonstrated organizational, analytical, decision-making, problem-solving and planning skills. Computer literate and technologically adept. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel. Proficiency in Windows Operating System and file management.
Preferred Qualifications

Two years’ experience in an academic library setting; experience with software comprising a “LAMP” stack that supports applications and web servers (i.e. Linux/Unix operating system, Apache HTTP server, MySQL/PostgresSQL/etc. database, Perl/Python/PHP programming language). Experience with current Microsoft operating systems (e.g. Windows 7); working knowledge of computer networking technologies, the Internet, web technologies (e.g. HTML and CSS); knowledge of scripting languages and other pertinent software, e.g. Perl, Python, PHP, Java, SQL; and knowledge of current developments in library applications of information technologies. Demonstrated record of designing projects and concluding them in a timely fashion. Demonstrated aptitude for technical analysis.
