|Position||Digital Asset Management Coordinator|
The Digital Asset Management Coordinator (DAMC) will coordinate digital asset development and curation in close collaboration with content producers, providers, and selectors, such as the DH program, the editors of our eleven open access journals, individual faculty members, and librarians in the Research, Teaching, and Learning Services (RTLS) and Special Collections and Libraries (SCL) divisions. This position will lead the library’s digital publishing and preservation services by overseeing and managing the CCDL and S@C. In partnership with the OCMTL, the DAMC will coordinate training on creating descriptive, administrative, and preservation metadata for digital assets. The DAMC will also plan, implement, and evaluate technologies to support digital publishing and preservation.
The DAMC will collaborate across the CCL to plan, organize, implement, and oversee the best care and delivery of the library’s digital assets. She/he will coordinate the efforts of librarians to identify content for the library’s digital collections and publications and determine best practices for their care, discoverability, and accessibility. A good example of the need for close collaboration between divisions is provided by our consortial CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections award “Digitizing Southern California Water Resources.” The DAMC will work with SCL librarians, staff, and student workers to create new digital assets that preserve and make discoverable primary source materials documenting the history of water in the region.
Leads digitization projects and engages in the following activities: training; budgeting; digital conversion; metadata creation and application; establishing quality controls and production workflows; reporting; producing cost analyses; and working with vendors.
Coordinates IRS librarians, staff members, and student workers, and manages technologies for digitization and digital publishing, as well as curation of born-digital projects and collections throughout the CCL.
Manages the CCDL’s and S@C’s platforms, operations, workflows, protocols, policies, and procedures in keeping with best practices, as well as abiding by intellectual property rights (IPR) and other relevant guidelines.
Working in close collaboration with the SCC, develops and implements workflows that facilitate engagement with the CCDL and Scholarship@Claremont by faculty, staff, and students. Serves as point-of-contact for platform vendor negotiations and support; communicates changing user needs and requirements to vendors.
Coordinates the digital scholarly publishing process at the CCL.
Collaborates with the CLIR Postdoctoral Fellow and the SCC to create a robust infrastructure for RDM services, including an emerging Data Services Team.
Coordinates training of staff and students in metadata creation and quality control in support of digital curation and publication.
Collaborates with IRS team leaders and coordinators to identify and allocate staff and student workers to support digital projects.
Collaborates with SCL to prioritize primary source collections for digitization and preservation.
Collaborates with the SCC especially and also with RTLS and SCL librarians to identify and curate content for the CCDL and S@C.
Collaborates with SCL to publish and preserve the digital work products of the Claremont Center for Engagement with Primary Sources.
Collaborates across library divisions on Scholarly Communications issues, such as open access; OER; IPR; and selection, discovery, curation, and preservation of digital assets, as well as to explore and recommend new tools for digital curation and publishing.
Supports digital exhibition platforms; archives digital exhibitions identified for retention and preservation.
Collects, analyses, and produces reports on a variety of usage data and altmetrics for the CCDL and S@C.
Required Education Summary
MLIS from an ALA Accredited program, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a closely related field.
Required Experience Summary
At least two years of professional experience working with digital assets and/or programs in academic or research libraries.
Experience working with digital management platforms.
Experience working with the digital object lifecycle, metadata standards and taxonomies, digital asset preservation, and visual file formats.
Experience training staff and student workers.

Knowledge of RDM, including the research process, data lifecycle, and common requirements for data plans from major grant-funders.
Familiarity with open access publishing and IPR issues in higher education.
Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
The regular hours for this full time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday. Holiday, weekend and evening work hours may be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the organization or business unit.
