• United States Geological Society - Geographic Names Information SystemThe USGS developed the GNIS for the U.S. Board on Geographic Names as the official repository of domestic geographic names data.
  Click on 'Search GNIS' located on the left side, enter name of geographical location (e.g., Rocky Mountains, Suwannee River, Lake Erie), then click 'Send Query'. Click on a specific result for detailed data on query's classification, geographical location (relative and absolute), topographical maps and elevation, and entry date.
• Americana Map Collections Home PageMap Collections is organized according to seven major categories from historical, cultural, economical to environmental maps of the United States. Part of the LOC program known as the American Memory project.
