Meeting Minutes
THE UCLA STUDENT CHAPTER OF THE ASSOCIATION OF MOVING IMAGE ARCHIVISTS EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING FRIDAY, APRIL 6, 2001 The meeting was called to order at 3:30 pm. Present: Olivia Solis, Andrea Leigh, Robert Dirig Elections will be held for next year's officers. Kelly Wallace will send out an announcement to our members encouraging them to run for the offices of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Olivia Solis will act as election officer. Anyone interested in running will e-mail Kelly with a short paragraph about themselves and why they would like to run for office. These will be posted on the web. The election will be held the week of April 30th and will be conducted by secret ballot. A ballot box will be placed in the student commons for one week. AMIA accepted the proposal submitted by our student chapter to sponsor a panel discussion during the 2001 AMIA conference in Portland in November. Andrea Leigh and Robert Dirig will co-chair the student session panel on "Student Perspectives in Archival Moving Image Studies." The session is scheduled for November 9th, from 9 to 11:30 am. The Board is planning several events for Spring Quarter. These include attending the screening of SPELLBOUND at the El Capitan Theater on Thursday, April 12, 2001. Olivia is arranging a presentation by the Mary Pickford Foundation and Library. Robert Dirig is working on setting up a tour of the Cinetech lab in Valencia. Chapter member Wendy Horowitz will host the end-of-the-year party at her house. She will screen some films from her personal collection. The advisor for next year from the Information Studies department will be Dr. Michele Cloonan.
