Meeting Minutes
THE UCLA STUDENT CHAPTER OF THE ASSOCIATION OF MOVING IMAGE ARCHIVISTS GENERAL MEETING TUESDAY, JANUARY 16, 2001 The meeting was called to order at 5:05 pm. Present: Olivia Solis, Andrea Leigh, Robert Dirig, Christine Figueroa, Julio Vera, Heather Cleary, and Dr. Michele Cloonan. Olivia Solis welcomed everyone to the beginning of Winter Quarter. Christine Figueroa encountered a problem trying to join AMIA at the student rate because UCLA's id cards do not have expiration dates on them. Working with Nicole Coppola, the new AMIA Administrative Assistant, Olivia arranged for the student status of any member to be verified by herself or by Lydia Doplemore, UCLA Information Studies Administrative Assistant. Olivia recapped the annual AMIA Conference, which was held in November at the Sheraton Universal, including the Student Chapter meeting with the AMIA Board of Directors. The Student Chapter members who attended the conference gave their comments about conference workshops, screenings, volunteering, and networking. The new AMIA Student Chapter web page and logo were discussed. AMIA Education Committee Chair, James Turner, will approve the design and content of the web page. Sally Hubbard will be consulted for the launching of the link to and from the AMIA web page. Olivia outlined the tentatively planned activities and events for the upcoming quarter. These include a tour of the Sony HD and DVD Centers on January 26, 2001. Grover Crisp, AMIA Board member, will conduct the tour. Olivia has contacted Elaine Archer, Library Manager of the Mary Pickford Library, about giving a presentation to the Student Chapter. Karen Gracy, Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Information Studies, has been approached about making a presentation in Spring Quarter. The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 pm.
