General Meeting (Fall 2006)- Minutes

• snacks  - Will is taking care of during the summer, Brenda has Costco membership

• Mailings to first years –

• flyer to be included in orientation folder for 1st years (Isabelle & Greg)
• Info to be included:
• website, 1st meeting date, link to ALA/CLA discount student membership, link to mentorship form, join the committees!
• Group pic of exec board
• Attending lab orientation days, ITW, making announcements in core classes 1st wk
• Orientation is only 1 day this year, and requires only 1 representative from each IS organization

• Professional Development, Social Programs, Service, Publicity/Outreach, Fundraising

• Programming

• Sunshine week – promotes open gov’t, try to get the gov docs, poli sci, public policy, annenberg folks & indymedia involved, try to make it a UCLA wide thing
• Tours: Lake View Terrace (green library), SMPL (Fall?), Brand Art & Music Library, Culinary School library w/ SLA? (Spring?)
• Career development, resume, cover letter sessions (Winter)
• Will will talk to folks at Career Center
• Wine tasting
• 1st yr/2nd yr mentoring program
• Other suggestions
• Movie night – Hollywood Librarian, Party Girl
• 1st social: Oct. 10th, 4-6 p.m. @ Brew Co.
