Called to order: 10:30 a.m.

  • Money matters
    • Used textbook sale report [Brian and Jamie]
      • Winter quarter text book sale earned $72
    • Overall funds in account equal $320
      • Talked of using funds to sponsor luncheon when ALA President Carol Brey-Casiano visits on April 18th.
        • Additional funding will be sought from the Graduate Student Association (GSA) [Joanna and Jamie] and from Student Governing Board (SGB) [Alison]
    • Fundraising
      • T-shirt sale
        • Working with the Horn Press, SLA, and SAA to sponsor a t-shirt design contest for the information studies program.
          • T-shirt contest to be done during winter quarter and sale of shirts available during spring quarter.
  • RORA matters
    • Next RORA training scheduled for Thursday, April 7th. [Chris]
    • Planning of Thank-you luncheon to be held in spring quarter started sponsored by the California Center for the Book (CFB)
  • Event matters
    • Cataloging panel (co-sponsored with SLA) [Brian]
      • Held Thursday, February 3, 2005
      • Will feature UCLA catalog librarians and a metadata specialist
    • LAPL tour [Joanna]
      • Dates for tour to be brought up at next general meeting
    • Cerritos Tour [Chris]
      • Correspondence with library to arrange a tour date in the works
    • Academic Librarian Panel [Ken]
      • Scheduled tentatively for spring quarter
      • Panelists still being sought (especially from community college setting)
    • Prison Library Tour [Alison]
      • To be co-sponsored with SLA and ALE in spring quarter
    • ALA Conference Attendee Panel [Myleen and Ken]
      • Possibly an open panel for all who have attended Information science related conferences to help first time attendees become familiar with what to expect and look forward to.
    • Legislative Day in Sacramento
      • Possibly co-sponsored with ALE
      • May 3rd and 4th (Tuesday and Wednesday, week 5 spring quarter)
      • Grant writing for funding [Alison and Erica]
      • Contact Joy Feldman and Greg Leazer for tips on last years efforts  [Myleen]
    • YALSA group to be added to speak in next general meeting
    • Student Group Happy Hour/Mixer [Joanna]
      • Tentatively planned for Friday, April 15th at the Library Ale House in Santa Monica
  • Next general meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 15th at 12:30 p.m.
