Welcome/Introductions:
• Define ALA = American Library Association
• Explain affiliation of student chapter to national organization
• Overview of activities of the student chapter
• Officer Introductions

New Member Sign-Ups:
• Explained to members present the importance of signing up with the student chapter (eligibility to run for officer positions and vote for officers)
• Urged members of the student chapter to join the national chapter
*** Explained advantages of national membership, costs, and how to obtain an application

Activities for the Year:
• Reach Out and Read Aloud (RORA)
*** Ajit explained the details of the program
*** Final date/time for training session TBA, but tentatively set for Thursday, Oct. 23 in the afternoon
• Central Library Tour
*** Specialized tour for our group
*** Interest seemed good, no overwhelming preference for suggested dates
*** Details will follow, with probably 3 weeks’ notice
*** Last year we held a lot of panel events, this year we are trying to hold a greater variety of kinds of events

o Welcome suggestions from the membership
o Huntington, Disability computing at UCLA
o Told members to Email Heather or Ajit with further suggestions
• ALE’s School on Wheels
*** Heather explained the program

Elections:
• Open Officer Positions: Secretary, Vice President & Web Designer, see handout for details and duties
• Explained election procedure:
*** Statements due to Ajit by Monday Oct. 13 via Email
*** Voting will take place Wednesday Oct. 15 through Wednesday Oct. 22, details of election procedures to follow
